Site News & Feature Revisions
Skip Links
Skip-Links are normally hidden links that will jump to a certain
section of each page. These help members that are blind or
visually impaired who have
to rely on keyboard control or screen-readers to navigate the site
easier. We've added the following skip-links:
Skip to Main Content:
jumps over the navigation
Skip to Main Navigation: will put you
right at the first menu
If you're not logged in, there is a third skip link:
Skip to Login Field: will bring you right to the login
field
On all pages that have a pager (the Page x of y - line like
in long forum threads or blogs) there is another skip-link, which
is the first after skipping to the main content. It's called "Skip
Pager" and will jump over the paging links to bring you right to
the content.
A note to all members: You may notice the above named
links as gray on white background boxes. These will become
invisible in a couple of hours. If the links irritate you, just hit
F5 (Internet Explorer) or hold the SHIFT Key while clicking on the
browser refresh button (all other browsers) and the skip links will
disappear.
Groups
Accessing Groups is easy. Simply select "Community" in the main menu and select "Groups".
The groups are NOT limited to rabbit topics. This is the place to chat about anything you care about.
Groups can only be
founded by VIB members (VIB members who are not in their Trial
phase). However, everyone can join and participate in a group.
Every
group comes with it's own forum and photo album section. We plan to
improve on the groups in the next couple of weeks to have invite
emails, alerts for group members etc. So please stay tuned.
Blog Subscriptions are now visible
Look in the sidebar on the right when you're on any blog page
(latest blogs, my blogs, or a rabbits blog). There are two new
buttons one to show you who subscribed to your blogs and one to see
who's blogs you subscribed to. The later also offers you the
ability to unsubscribe from blogs.
Blog Subscription
Unlike the forum subscription, which is directed at one particular
forum thread, the blog subscription is targeted at one particular
rabbit. So if you want to be notified on the homepage when, for
example Bubbles posts his next "Cawwot Tops", look at Bubbles Blogs
and click the new "subscribe to Bubble's Blogs" button on the top
of the page. There may be a caching problem: when you click that
button and it doesn't change to "UNSUBSCRIBE from ....", hold down
the "shift" key and click the refresh button of your browser (or
with Internet Explorer you can hit the F5 key, which does the same
as shift-reload). After the page loaded again, click on the
"subscribe" button once more. Now it should change to "unsubscribe"
and you're all set.
New VIB Subscription Methods
We have modified the VIB Subscription Options. There are now
one-time options for 6 and 12 month subscriptions which don't
require a Paypal Account anymore and don't renew automatically.
We've also added a VIB Sponsor button to every bunny who's not a
VIB. This allows anyone who wants to sponsor a bunny to VIB status
to do so anonymously. We won't tell the recipient of the gift who
it was - if you want to tell you certainly can send the recipient a
message.
Feature update: Adopted Rabbits
You can now view all adopted rabbits. Look in the Adoption menu.
Feature Update & Corrections
Besides several bugfixes, the most significant update is the new
Events section (find it under "Community"). The Events allow
members to schedule events and other members to sign up that
they're going to the event.
Feature Update: Top10 and Top100
We've added a top 10 and top 100 most viewed rabbits page to the
"Community" menu. It shows the top 10/100 for the current month and
the top 10/100 since day 1.
Shelter and Adoption Section
Bunspace now has a section for Adoptions and Shelters/Rescues.
Shelters and Rescues can now add their adoptable rabbits. The
adoption profiles look different than regular rabbit profiles as
they have specific information geared towards adoption. Bunspace
members as well as anyone visiting bunspace can now look up
adoptable rabbits and shelters. Hopefully this new feature will
give many rabbits a permanent home.
Feature Update
There are 3 new features:
Vet Listings: You'll see a new main menu entry called "Vets". This is currently an empty vet listing and we encourage everyone to add his vet. We will review all submissions
because we want this to be a comprehensive and accurate listing of vets that specialize in Rabbit Care.
Forum Subscriptions: You'll
now see a "subscribe" button next to the "reply to this topic" button when you look at a forum thread. Click the button: the button will change into "unsubscribe". From that point on, the system monitors new posts and will display them below the recently added "buddies with updates" section on the homepage. That way you can keep track of forum topics without having to look at each of them for updates.
Blog Comment Notifications: You will now receive an email for blog comments posted to any of your blogs. You can turn them off in the Account->Account Settings section of the main menu.
Enjoy!
